A few words to introduce ourselves


Originally from the Avignon region, we have been living in Bauduen since 2016.

We have decided to stay in this beautiful region with our 3 children.

We became owners of the villa at the end of 2021.

While waiting to come and live here full time in a few years, we occasionally welcome family and friends, and we also offer it for holiday rental.

So we wanted our house to be comfortable and well-equipped and we hope that you will spend a pleasant and relaxing time in the quiet hamlet of Font Castellan.

We are very happy to welcome you in our house and wish you a pleasant stay in the Verdon.

Arriving from Aups, Verignon Draguignan, Autoroute A8 (Le Muy) :


On the D49, a few dozen metres after the Clos de Barbey campsite, take the « chemin de Bounas » on the right.

Arriving from Riez, Sainte-Croix, Manosque, Motorway

A51 (Vinon/Verdon or Manosque)


At the crossroads after the campsite « Aux Vallons », turn right onto the D49 towards Aups.

After 850m turn left to take the « chemin de Bounas ».

Once on the "chemin de Bounas", drive 500m, the villa is on your left.

Your arrival at the Font Castellan villa and your departure

Your arrival:

You can arrive at the villa Font Castellan from 5.00 pm.We ask you to inform us by phone or SMS one hour before your arrival so that we can come to your place.

Cécile or I will welcome you and give you the keys until 7.00 pm.

After this time, you can arrive independently with a coded key box and settle in quietly. We will come and introduce ourselves to you the next day.

The code will be given to you as soon as you inform us of your late arrival.

In this case we will have carried out an inventory of fixtures before your arrival, however if you notice any problem during your installation we ask you to inform us as soon as possible by email or telephone.

We remind you that the household linen (sheets and towels) as well as the cleaning at the end of the stay are not included in the rental.

Your departure:

On the day of your departure we ask you to leave the house at 10.00 am.

We will meet you at the villa to carry out the inventory of fixtures and greet you before your departure.

You can also leave independently via the key box if you wish to leave earlier.

The rubbish bins must be emptied and the dishes must be clean and tidy.

We rely on you to take care of our house and leave it in a good state.

You have paid an end-of-stay cleaning fee, we remind you that this service applies to a house left in a normal state of use. Under no  circumstance does this service authorize you to leave the accomodation in anunacceptable state of dirt.

Presentation of the Villa and its Facilities

The villa is built on a 1200m2 unfenced plot of land on a hillside. With a surface area of 78m2, the house is composed of a large living room – dining room with access to the large terrace.


The living room is equipped with two sofas, a coffee table and an LED TV on its dedicated cabinet.

The dining area has an extendable table with six chairs.

The living room has a fireplace, we ask you not to use it, it is not functional. It is the book corner.

A Mitsubishi reversible air-conditioning system of 4.2kw will ensure that you will not be cold in winter or hot in summer.


A large open kitchen opens onto the living room. You will find free space to store your groceries, a large refrigerator with a low freezer compartment, a traditional oven, a microwave oven and an induction hob with its illuminating extractor hood, and finally a dishwasher.


Small appliances include a Senseo pod coffee maker, an insulated filter coffee maker, an electric kettle and a toaster.

The kitchen is fully stocked with all the crockery and cutlery you will need during your stay. A large double bin will allow you to sort your waste and recyclables.


At night, a first parental bedroom is equipped with a 160×200 bed and a large wardrobe with integrated wardrobe.

Two bedside tables with bedside lamps and a dressing table with mirror and stool complete the furniture.

A radiator is provided for winter stays and a mosquito net will protect you from insects.


A second bedroom, a family room, is equipped with two single beds 90×200 with bedside tables and lamps, and two bunk beds 90×190 with clip-on lamps, as well as two large storage units with shelves.

This room is also equipped with a radiator and a mosquito net.





To ensure that your nights are totally restful, all the beds are equipped with new top-of-the-range mattresses (2022) of the Hypnia brand with pocket springs and comfort foam, each 25cm thick.


The bathroom has an Italian shower of 80x155cm with a glass wall.

An electric towel warmer and clothes hooks for hanging towels and clothes.

A lighted mirror and a washbasin above a storage cabinet are available. A hairdryer can be used at your convenience.


The toilet is separate from the bathroom.


A step stool is available on a shelf in the garage for small children.


The entrance hall welcomes you with a large built-in wardrobe for your jackets, shoes, suitcases, etc.


The terrace will allow you to enjoy the pleasant weather of the Verdon.

You will be able to have your meals on a glass table with its armchairs in synthetic fabrics.

An awning will allow you to protect yourself from the sun if necessary.

A lounge area with a bench and armchairs under a large cranked parasol will allow you to enjoy a cool aperitif or a « p’ti dej » in holiday mode.


A garage – laundry room with tiled floor will allow you to have large shelves to store your leisure equipment.

You can store your bikes, scooters, canoes, paddles, etc.

Motorcyclists can store their two wheels in the garage.


In the garage you will find the washing machine and dryer, the ironing board and iron, the hoover, broom and mop.

The locked cupboard is for our use only, please do not use it.


In the garden, near the terrace, there is a space where you can comfortably enjoy the gas barbecue for your grilling parties.

The plot is large enough to park your vehicles in front of the entrance.




The access to the villa is on a slope. When you arrive, take the time to get your bearings to turn on the ground, you will be at ease the next time.

For families with babies

In order to allow you to carry as little material as possible during your journey, we provide the following equipment:

-A (real) folding wooden cot with a mattress. It can easily be installed in the -parent’s room

-A pushchair.

-A high chair.

-A baby bath.

-A bed barrier.

-A wooden playpen XL.

-A play mat.

-A baby-phone.

-Some baby toys.

-A potty and a toilet seat.

Baby equipment is stored on the shelves in the garage when not in use. If requested in advance we can set up the cot in the master bedroom for your arrival, and/or the wooden playpen.

Sheets and blankets for the cot can be provided on request.

The services we offer as an option


In order to make your stay more enjoyable, we offer a number of optional services. If you wish to take advantage of one of these opportunities and in order for us to make the necessary arrangements, we ask you to inform us before your stay, at least two days before your arrival. The services must be paid for on the spot on your arrival.

Inflatable stand-up Paddles for hire

It is the best way to enjoy the lake, to walk, to stroll, to have fun, to reach the beautiful spots far from the crowds, whether you are a beginner or already initiated, alone or with your family.

We offer you up to 4 paddles.

         -2 versatile « gong chip » models, 10″ and 11″. Very stable and easy to access, perfect for beginners and comfortable for the experienced.

You can take 1, 2 or even 3 children for a ride with the 11″.

         -1 more versatile/ballade model with a more upmarket « gong couine marie touring » 11.6 ». Versatile but more efficient when rowing.

         -1 light adult or child model « Aquamarina » 8″.

Each paddle is rented with its own bag, leash, paddle and inflation pump.

For the rental of at least 2 paddles we will lend you a specific electric inflator on a cigarette lighter.

Unfortunatly at the present time, La Villa Font Castellan is not able to accept animals


Small everyday gestures that help preserve the planet.

La Font Castellan villa has equipped all its light points with LED bulbs. The shower head saves 30% compared to a conventional model. The toilet flush has two positions, including a ½ bowl position for « small jobs ».

The water heater, modern and efficient, allows a saving of 5% of water consumption compared to a conventional model.

The reversible air-conditioning system provides good energy efficiency in winter. Combined with rock wool insulation in the attic, it is the ideal compromise for keeping consumption moderate while preserving coolness in summer and heat in winter.

We ask you to respect the small daily gestures to avoid wasting water and electricity.

Don’t leave the water running for nothing, use the dishwasher instead of washing up manually, don’t leave the air conditioning on with the doors and windows open, etc.

Waste bins

You will find green containers for communal waste and yellow containers for recyclables at the crossroads of the Chemin de Bounas and the D49 (visible on the first photo in this booklet), 500m from the villa.

We have equipped the villa with 30l bins so that you don’t have to empty your bags too often during your holidays.


For cardboard, glass and paper waste, specific containers are available at the entrance to the village of Bauduen just before the car park, and also a little further along the avenue at the level of the camper van parking.

Local markets

The best thing to do in Provence is to visit the local farmers’ markets which are full of fresh produce and Provençal specialities, and here we have just what you need, there are several and every day from Tuesday to Sunday morning.


Aiguines 18 km away.

A small seasonal market from April to October, with a few stalls selling fruit and vegetables.

Cotignac 29 km away:

Selling fruit and vegetables. You will also find a garage sale and an antique market.

Esparron de Verdon at 29 km.

Lorgues at 34 km: One of the largest markets in the region with traders selling fish, meat, fruit, vegetables, bread and much more. You will also have a wide choice of organic and natural products with a great diversity of products from local producers. Clothing and other goods will be present.


Aups 13km away:

Food and non-food products, you will find good local products.

Riez at 22km:

As large as Lorgues, this market offers the whole range of food products: butchers, fruit and vegetables, delicatessen, dairy products with a large majority of local products. You will also find other vegetable products as well as a large number of craft and non-food stands.

Salernes at 22 km.

Draguignan at 36km.

Valensole at 36km:

Prepare to spend a pleasant time, lulled by the scent of lavender that haunts this purple-hued village.

Castellane, 68km away:

Castellane’s small food market, where you can find everything.


Truffle market in Aups, 13km away:

From 29 November to 28 March, truffle market, the number of stalls is more or less important depending on the season.

Les Salles-sur-Verdon at 17km:

Fruit and vegetables, local produce, flowers and plants, as well as clothing, utensils and other non-food products are sold.

Villecroze at 20km.

Gréoux Les Bains at 41km:

You will find over 130 stalls with fresh produce, the best bakers selling excellent bread baked in the morning and goat cheese makers selling handmade cheese. Not to be missed if you are in the area.


Montmeyan at 26km.

Moustiers Sainte Marie at 29km.


Aups at 13km:

Food and non-food products, you will find good local products.

This is the nearest market, located on the lake front. Fruit and vegetables as well as butchery and charcuterie are available all year round. In summer, non-food products are also available.

What to see in the area?


Access to the lake

There are several ways to enjoy the lake.

The easiest way is to go there on foot. To do this, when you leave the house, take the path to Bounas to the left. Follow the path to Bounas and then the path to Font Castellan and cross the D49. The nearest beach is this one.

It takes about 20 minutes to get down to the lake and a little longer to get back up as there is a steep climb at the start.

It is better to follow the D49 to the crossroads of the Bounas road as if you were coming by car for a slightly longer return (1.7km) but with a smoother climb.

If you choose to drive to the lake you will have access to more beaches. At the entrance to Bauduen (supervised in July and August), or at the end of the village by taking the track that runs along the lake.

By taking the direction of Sainte Croix du Verdon you will pass the access to the beach of Sulagran, and many others.

The villages around the lake

The medieval village of Bauduen

Leaning against the cliff, with its feet in the turquoise of the Sainte-Croix lake, Bauduen warms up in the midday sun its old Provençal houses with pink tiles. With its narrow streets and cobbled staircases, the village has preserved its authenticity and and its medieval character.

 The village of Sainte Croix, situated at 513m above sea level, overlooks the lake from a rocky outcrop. It is a charming place to stroll around. Sainte Croix is made up of pretty typical houses, a 16th century church and the remains of a medieval castle.

The Low Gorges of the Verdon

extend between the Lake of Quinson and

the Lake of Esparron.

Valensole plateau


Along the Lavender Routes on the Valensole plateau, distilleries and a museum welcome you to reveal all the secrets of this plant with a thousand virtues. Here the air is fragrant in early July when the lavender is in full bloom. The  fields undulate in waves of mauve and blue as far as the eye can see, to the delight of the photographers.
